The Golden Rule
America Is Now Flirting with the Dark Side of History
You think mass killings of political dissidents couldn’t happen in the United States? Think again.
I’m drafting my letter to the world…

“It is time our leaders reformed the system so that it works in the interests of the whole of humanity rather than a global elite,” the report said.
Next Day Regret
She made it up, next day regret
Her story here, I can’t forget
They had two dates, or so he thought
First kiss, okay - the second, naught
Fourth of July he stole her kiss
She took it back, said “not like this”
“Don’t be that way, just be my friend”
And so they drank until night’s end
On their ride home he pled his case
Her pity tears he did efface
Too drunk to drive, she offered rest
Then she passed out until her guest
Got off her couch, pulled down her pants
Unconscious fuck, his conscious act
Got no consent, no condom worn
When she awoke she felt forlorn
He held her down before she rose
Released to me, that’s where she froze
He left without a word to say
Until that laugh in light of day
She asked “Was I awake last night?”
His “I dunno, you didn’t fight”
“In fact, I even heard you moan”
Chilled both of us right to the bone
The hospital took their report
The officers asked about court
He’s still her family’s family-friend
Years later, yet it’s not the end
No charges pressed, she can’t escape
You’re right, she lied - cause that was rape
Continually raped again
By those who think he’s like all men
We made it up, next day regret
The stories here, please don’t forget
Some I have heard and some I’ve read
Some from my heart, some from my head
Most girls will have a tale to tell
Of their next day regret as well
Most boys don’t think to ask before
They make a move or take some more
Mistaking reticence for yes
She must say no or acquiesce
He’s taken her and left her numb
She’s given nothing to or from
A friendly smooch becomes a grind
He cannot see, for he is blind
No intimacy with these girls
He’s just destroying both their worlds
She feels afraid, risk everywhere
He doesn’t feel too much, or care
And that is how the cycle spins
Out of control, nobody wins
The closet rapists move along
Not knowing what they’ve done is wrong
‘Til you stand up, they won’t step out
Give all the benefit of doubt
Girls blame themselves, friends do so too
And then excuse the guy – it’s true
Mere men cannot resist desire
A woman scorned is just a liar
Until we stop this background noise
Accepting that boys will be boys
Society will rape again
By thinking that is just like men

holy shit i love this quote

I vote we stop using the term “pro-life” and change to “pro-birth”, and every time someone asks “What does that mean?”, you can explain this and the other racialized, classist, misogynist, body policing, rape culture reinforcing bullshit behind “pro-life” dogma.

This is why I also love the term “anti-choice” – you aren’t pro-life, you’re anti me having the choice of whether or not I will be pregnant. Much of today’s GOP is pro-life ‘til the birth canal ends.

They can’t stand when you point out this contradiction and I LOVE ruining their day by doing it.

What is true, researchers have found, is that cultural opposition to rape myths makes men less likely to commit assault, and acceptance of those myths makes sexual assault more likely.
